WICHITA — Iola High’s Tyler Powelson and Ashley Campbell brought home some state track hardware over the weekend, with promises to return for more next year.
Powelson, a junior, earned a seventh-place medal Saturday in the Class 4A boys 1600-meter run. He finished with a time of 4 minutes, 37.7 seconds.
Campbell, a sophomore, was seventh in the 4A girls 200-meter dash, finishing in 27.91 seconds.
“The only surprising part was that I thought my time would be faster, because it seemed like the pace was so fast,” Powelson said. “But I’m happy with how I did.”
