Iola jr. varsity, freshmen compete

Iola High’s junior varsity volleyball team lost a pair of tough matches Tuesday, falling in three sets to visiting Wellsville, 16-25, 25-12, 15-6, and to Osawatomie, 25-13, 25-18.
Leading scorers against Wellsville were Katie Shields with two kills, McKayli Cleaver with five assists and Taylor Sell with 19 digs.
Against Osawatomie, Cassie Delich had three kills, while Sell had 20 digs.
Iola’s freshmen split its matches, falling to Wellsville, 27-25, 15-25, 15-13, before rebounding to defeat Osawatomie, 25-22, 25-13.
Head coach Jeff Fehr said the Fillies’ leading servers were Jadyn Sigg, Toni Macha and Riley Murry. Sydney Wade led the team in assists. Toni Macha had the most kills.
