Iola’s JV volleyball squad traveled to Burlington on Monday night to face off against the Wildcats on the court. The Fillies left with mixed results.
Coach Emily Hampton saw her team drop the first matchup in two straight sets (21-25, 20-25).
Katelynn Olson nearly led Iola to a victory to open up the night by recording a team-high five kills. Karly McGuffin wasn’t too far behind offensively with two kills of her own.
Chloe Gardner was the only Fillies player with two service aces while Madi Carlin and Jayden Sigg each added one during Iola’s two-set defeat to Burlington.
But Iola found its groove in the night’s second match of the night, winning in three sets (25-17, 13-25, 15-12).
Once again, Olson was the Fillies offensive leader with four kills while McGuffin pitched in with a kill of her own. But Hampton had Riley Murray step up in the second match as Murray recorded two kills as well.
Sigg went from her lone service ace in the first match to having a team-high five in the second. Gardner, Olson and Carlin each had one as well.
