Iola Middle School athletes shine at Parsons

IMS track and field athletes fared well at a meet in Parsons Wednesday, earning several top medals in the process.

PARSONS — Iola Middle School’s seventh- and eighth-graders dodged rain drops Wednesday while taking part in the Parsons Invitational Track Meet.

There were several highlights for the Mustang athletes.

India Barney brought home gold in the seventh-grade girls 100-meter hurdles, while Bella Rahming won the shot put.

In eighth-grade girls action, Karingten Hall won the 100- and 200-meter dashes, while Elza Clift won the 100-meter hurdles.

On the boys’ side, seventh-grader Tre Wilson was tops in the 100-meter hurdles, and high jump and Noah Schowengerdt took gold in the 400- and 800-meter runs. Jakolby Hill won the 3200-meter run, as did the seventh-grade 4×100-meter relay team of Schowengerdt, Henry White, Nick Bauer and Wilson.

Cole Moyer took the 3200-meter crown in eighth-grade boys competition.
