UNIONTOWN — A quick start by visiting Pleasanton High put Uniontown High’s girls in an early hole Friday.
“Pleasanton came out ready to play and we didn’t,” Lady Eagle head coach Ken Holt said.
The Blu-Jays led 18-7 after one quarter. Uniontown came back in the second and third quarters, but Pleasanton closed the game with a 15-7 run in the third quarter to win 61-45.
The loss drops Uniontown to 6-8 overall and 1-2 in Three Rivers League.
Uniontown cut Pleasanton’s lead to 30-24 at the break. Pleasanton led 46-38 after three periods.
Breanna Esslinger had 16 points, while Hope Jurgenson scored 12 points, with four rebounds and three steals. Tayler Shook had three assists.
Karesa Lewis scored a game-high 20 points for Pleasanton. Johnnea Saulsberry added 16 and Codi Byington 11.
Uniontown hosts Altoona-Midway on Tuesday.
