HUMBOLDT — It’s bad enough racing against the rest of the field but to have to hold off your brother is another thing.
Jess Folk Jr. captured his first USRA modified feature win of the 2012 season at Humboldt Speedway Friday. In doing so, he held off challenges by John Allen, his brother Justin Folk and Justin Rexwinkle.
Allen pushed Jess Folk right to the end. Folk won by about five feet. Allen had to make sure to stay in front of third-place finisher Justin Folk. Rexwinkle ran fourth and Brian Bolin was fifth.
Another close race came in the factory stock feature. Scott Stuart and Derrek Wilson battled with Stuart taking the checkered flag. Wilson finished second.
Todd Kidwell and Steve Stuart ran third and fourth, respectively, in the factory stock race. Patrick Kay was fifth.
In the pure stock division, Derek Michael kept the pressure on Tyler Kidwell, who led much of the race. Michael took the lead and won the feature race with Tyler Kidwell in second place.
Jeremy Willard crossed the line in third place. Levi Phillips and Jarrid Johnson rounded out the top five.
Jimmie Davis went to the front from the green flag and never relinquished the lead. Davis had a wire-to-wire win in the USRA B-mod feature Friday night. Leon Bash claimed second followed by Jeremy Bennett, Jeremy Wilson and Kenny Shaw.
Humboldt Speedway fans were treated to the Midwest Outlaw Vintage Racers Friday night. The feature race was won by Keith Simmons followed by Jay Lamons Jr. and Zack Simmons.
