COFFEYVILLE — Allen Community College’s baseball team rebounded from a tough weekend with a pair of dominating victories Tuesday, one of which featured a five-inning no-hitter.

Freshman pitcher Trey Jordan allowed only two baserunners, both via walks, as he pitched a five-inning no-hit shutout over Coffeyville Community College in a 10-0 romp.

That victory followed a veritable hit parade, led by Lukas Rich’s two-home run, five-RBI day in ACC’s 16-6 win.

The doubleheader sweep ended the team’s only lull so far in 2021, after they had dropped five of 6 the previous week.

Allen (22-10) now sets its sights on powerhouse Johnson County, which enters the four-game set with an 18-2 mark in Jayhawk Conference play and stand at 34-3 overall, but having lost two of its last three.

The Red Devils are 9-7 in conference action, good for fourth.

“The Jayhawk Conference is so good from top to bottom that you just never get a break,” Red Devil head coach Clint Stoy said. “You can see from the scores that anybody can beat anybody on any given day.”

Rich started the Game 1 romp with a two-run blast after Levi Bennett tripled in the first inning

A Damon Burroughs double and Alec Roberts single set the table for a five-run fourth inning.

Josh Prinner’s ground ball scored a run after Coffeyville failed to record an out; Colton Robertson hit a sac fly;  Jonah Weisner’s bases-loaded walk made it 5-0; a Red Raven error allowed another run; and Rich rounded out the rally with an RBI ground ball.

Prinner singled and scored on Lucas McCain’s sac fly for an 8-1advantage before Rich went deep again on a 1-0 pitch in the sixth to drive in Bennett.

Prinner followed with an RBI single and an 11-2 advantage.

Bennett’s second triple of the game in the top of the seven drove in Khyle Radcliffe and scored on a Burroughs single. Primer followed with a two-run single, and McCain’s RBI grounder capped the score-fest.

On top of Rich’s two homers and Bennett’s pair of triples, Burroughs had three hits, including a double. Prinner singled three times, Roberts twice and Patterson, McCain and Radcliffe once each.

“Lukas didn’t have a good series against Fort Scott last week, and put in a lot of extra work in the batting cage,” Stoy said. “He never stops working.”

Josh Fluet picked up the win, allowing three hits in three innings of work with a pair of strikeouts. Paxton Bryan pitched a perfect inning of relief and Slade Renfrow allowed three hits with three strikeouts in two innings of work. Jacob Davenport finished off the game with three strikeouts and one hit allowed in his inning.
