HUMBOLDT — Justin Folk hasn’t won six out of the last 11 modified points championships at Humboldt Speedway just showing up. The Speedway’s defending modified points champion showed last Friday why he runs ahead of most in the class.
According to track reports, Folk used a high-side pass of Steve Martin in Friday’s modified feature race. Driving close to the Speedway wall, Folk went from third to the lead and held on for the victory.
Brian Bolin ended up in second as he got around third-place Scott Daniels late. Martin finished in fourth and Ryan Whitworth was fifth.
Doug Scism led wire-to-wire in the factory stock feature race. Chris Weldon pushed Scism to the end but ran second. Tyler James took third followed by Brandon Tindle and Colton Bunn.
Jeremy Willard notched another pure stock feature win. Mike Aiello crossed the finish line in second place. Matt Habiger, Eddie Coulter and Tony Morris rounded out the top five.
Levi McGowen got out in front early and rolled to victory in the B-Mod feature race. Tim VanGotten outlasted Jay Lamons Jr. for second place. Jimmie Davis was fourth and Mike Letterman ran fifth.
The Vintage Racers made another stop at Humboldt. Jack Simmons came from last to win the feature race. Dale Reese was second followed by Joe Martin, Travis Moyer and Kenny Schettler.
It was also kid’s night at the Speedway. In the bike races at halftime, age-group winners were Jackson McGowen, Brinley Magee, Tucker Davis, Devon Aiello, Speed Hoepker, Drew Sirota, Jacob Barnhart, Trey Thomas and Chance Gendre.
