Hot off their run at the KSHSAA Volleyball Championship Tournament in Dodge City, the Lady Cubs returned home to receive a bit of well-deserved hardware from the Tri-Valley League.

After rampaging through the TVL for a league title last month, finishing an undefeated 6-0, league officials recognized Humboldt’s efforts with four selections to the All-TVL team.

Hot off making the all-state tournament team over the weekend, Humboldt senior Ricklyn Hillmon received recognition on the All-TVL first team, joining senior libero Skylar Hottenstein and junior setter Lakyn Meadows while senior middle hitter Laney Hull received All-TVL second team honors.

Hillmon was by far Humboldt’s biggest arm with 387 kills. Hillmon also had a team-leading 54 blocks.

On the back line, Hottenstein set a myriad of school records while en route to receiving All-TVL honors including most aces in a season with 102, most career aces with 286 most career digs with 2,226 and most digs in a single match with 29. Hottenstein also had a team-leading 592 digs this season.

Meadows also shined in a variety of categories. She had a team-leading 490 assists as the set-up woman for Hottenstein, Hull and was third in kills herself with 162 of her own. Meadows was third in digs behind Hottenstein and Hull with 249 and fifth in aces with 41.

Hull’s selection to the second team may have been an understatement at the least. Hull was second in kills with 222, second in blocks with 54, was third in aces with 52 and second in digs with an eye-popping 353, which is quite a feat considering she typically positions near the net.

Hull, Hottenstein and Hillmon, as well as senior opposite side hitter Rylee Gates will leave a few holes to fill next season but with a deep bench rife with upper and underclassmen talent, Humboldt’s rebuild next season may not take long
