PLEASANTON — Humboldt High’s girls took an early lead and rolled over Altoona-Midway 63-17 Thursday in consolation round action of the Pleasanton Midseason Tournament.
Humboldt advances to today’s fifth-place game to take on Central Heights.
The Chargers defeated Crest High 56-27.
Crest’s defeat drops the Lady Lancers into the seventh-place game today against Altoona-Midway.
Crest’s game tips off at 1 p.m. in Pleasanton’s north gymnasium. The Lady Cubs play at 2:30 p.m. in the south gymnasium.
Humboldt coach Sherri Nelson said the win was badly needed for Humboldt “to remember the progress we have made.”
“The girls had a complete team effort,” Nelson said. “Every person on the team was able to contribute in one way or another. I am incredibly happy with their effort.”
Lakota Wilson was the lead player for the Lady Cubs with 21 points, four rebounds, five steals, two assists and a block.
Sheri Middleton followed with nine points, nine rebounds and four blocks, while Morgan Morris had nine points, five rebounds and a block. Kristin Todd chipped in with six points and six rebounds. Karsyn Menzie had six points and five rebounds. Delaney Umholtz provided four points, three steals and four assists. Megan Hudlin had three points and three assists. Kasey Beeman had three points and two steals. Whitney Strack provided two points, four steals and three assists. Kayle Riebel pulled in five rebounds. Cheyanne English had two steals and an assist.
