COLONY — Three Lady Lancers were in double figures as Crest High clamped down on defense late to secure a win Thursday.

Aylee Beckmon scored 13 points, while Kaelin Nilges and Gracyn Ellington had 10 apiece in Crest’s 50-43 win over visiting Waverly.

The win lifts Crest to 16-4 as the Lady Lancers enter a busy stretch to end the regular season. On Friday, Crest traveled to Jayhawk-Linn.Results from that contest were not available by press time. The Lady Lancers return home Tuesday to host Northeast-Arma.

Crest led 17-11 after one quarter and 28-21 at halftime. Waverly made things interesting after the break, closing to within a point at 39-38 after three.

But Beckmon hit 4 of 8 free throws and Nilges hit a critical 3-pointer down the stretch to keep the Lady Lancers on top. Some sterling defense didn’t hurt, either, as Crest limited Waverly to five fourth-quarter points.

Jaycee Schmidt added eight points in the winning cause.

Allie Stukey poured in 17 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead Waverly. Kate Wagner followed with 12.
