The fifth and sixth grade Iola Mustangs football team defeated the Garnett Bulldogs 6-0 on Tuesday night to win their league championship.
The contest was knotted at 0-0 until late in the fourth quarter when sixth-grader Rylan Green scored the game-winning touchdown with just under 2 minutes left.
Iola’s defense then held strong against Garnett’s offense to seal the victory and take the league title.
The Mustangs finished the year unblemished, recording an 8-0 record.
IN GARNETT, the third and fourth Iola Mustangs football team defeated the Garnett Bulldogs 12-0 on Tuesday night to win their league championship.
The Mustangs finished the year with a 5-2 record.
