UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball A team fought valiantly Monday, but they could not come up with a win against a pair of fledgling rivals.
The Wildcats were in Uniontown for a triangular match also including Yates Center Middle School.
Marmaton Valley rallied in the second set against Yates Center but could draw no closer than the final score, 25-13 and 25-20.
Things were even tighter in the finale against Uniontown.
The Eagles pulled out a 25-14 win in the first set before Marmaton Valley rallied for a 27-25 thriller in the second. But the Eagles rattled four straight points in the tiebreaker to win, 15-11, to take the 2-1 win.
The Wildcats are back in action Thursday at home against Southern Coffey County.
