BUFFALO — After going through a gauntlet of back-to-back matchups against top-four teams in the state, Marmaton Valley High’s boys were back on the winning track Tuesday.

Tyler Lord scored 14 points and Thomas Allee scored 10 as part of a balanced scoring attack in a 55-21 win over Altoona-Midway.

The win lifts Marmaton Valley to 9-13 with one more regular season matchup Friday at Uniontown.

From there, the Wildcats will open the Class 1A-II Substate Playoffs. The fourth-seeded Wildcats will host either Hutchinson-Central Christian (9-13) or Chetopa (0-20) on Feb. 28.

Another strong performance like Tuesday would benefit the Wildcats in the postseason.

Marmaton Valley led 12-6 after one quarter and 26-14 at the break. The lead swelled to 39-19 by the end of the third period.

Ethan Lawson added eight points, while Garrett Morrison and  Brevyn Campbell notched seven apiece in the winning effort.

Chance Carter scored 10 to lead Altoona-Midway.

Marmaton Valley also rolled to a 37-6 win in junior varsity play.

Lawson scored 11 points, while Brady Burton had nine and Allee scored eight for Marmaton Valley’s JV. Lane Lord scored six Kooper Welch two and Kris McVey one.
