MORAN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls hosted Northeast Junior High of Arma Monday.
The Wildcats claimed a 24-18 win in the A-team contest. They were fueled by a 17-6 first half.
Mackenzie Tynon fired in 11 of her game-high 15 points in the first half for Marmaton Valley. Lindsey McNeil added six points. Emily Boyd scored two points and Cheyenne English had one point.
“The A-team played aggressively and had the big lead but the momentum switched to Northeast in the second half,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ basketball coach. “The girls kept their composure as they added the needed points to keep the lead.”
A slow start hampered the MVJH B-team as it lost 20-12. The Wildcats trailed 11-4 at halftime.
“After the half, the girls stepped up and worked the basketball but feel short of catching up with Northeast,” Mills said.
Misty Storrer and Tynon each had four points. Molly Hamlin and Mariah Root had two points apiece.
Marmaton Valley goes to Pleasanton Thursday.
