HUMBOLDT — After rewriting Humboldt High’s volleyball record books, Sheri Middleton will take her talents to Fort Scott in the fall.
Middleton was honored Thursday after signing a letter of intent to play volleyball at Fort Scott Community College.
The decision was an easy one, Middleton said, after meeting FSCC head coach Lindsay Hill.
“I like her a lot,” she said. “She’s tough on her players to help them get better, and she does a good job so they can go on to four-year schools.”
She earned all-Tri-Valley League honors her sophomore, junior and senior year at Humboldt.
She registered a school record 159 blocks in 2011, 103 in 2012 and 81 in 2013 for a combined school record 343. She had 165 kills as a sophomore, 183 as a junior and a school record 258 as a senior (606 total).
She had 86 career aces, 67 digs and 26 assists.
She helped Humboldt increase its win total over her three years from 14 as a sophomore to 16 as a junior and 25 as a senior.
The Lady Cubs went 55-47 with Middleton in the fold.
Middleton plans to study journalism. She is the daughter of Stephanie Splechter and Ben Middleton.
