INDEPENDENCE — The Mustang tennis team sent three players to the Independence Junior Varsity Invitational on Monday.
Eason Cheung played in the No. 2 singles field and ended the day with an 0-3 record, but coach Dan Berg was pleased with how Cheung competed, given his limited singles experience.
“Even though Eason didn’t win a match he played well and had some very tough volleys,” Berg said.
Chueng lost 6-1 to Independence’s Samson Mah, 6-3 to Independence’s Evan Carnes and 6-3 to Pittsburg’s P.A. Monsour.
Adryan Nading and Jackson Cone teamed up in the No. 1 doubles field for the Mustangs.
They finished the tournament with a 2-1 record.
Nading and Cone beat Independence’s Sean Neyland and Brock O’Malley, 6-1, and Pittsburg’s David Green and Jake Russian, 6-3.
They lost 6-0 against Independence’s Gabe Wright and Garrett Muninger.
