COFFEYVILLE — Five Iola High wrestlers competed in the Coffeyville Junior Varsity Invitational wrestling tournament Saturday.
Chase Roettgen took first in the 171-pound weight class. He pinned Adel of Coffeyville and Carmello of Pittsburg.
Roettgen lost 12-3 to Plumber of Fredonia. He bounced back to pin Bautista of Pittsburg and defeat Shults of Webb City, Mo., 22-6.
Cody Conner placed fourth in the 125-pound class. He pinned Colvaro of Cherryvale and Stevens of Parsons. He lost to Pickard of Joplin, Mo., and Craig of Frontenac by pins.
At 160 pounds, Travis Rieske was 2-2 and Bryce Misenhelter was 1-2.
Rieske was pinned by Sperry of Webb City then he beat Rubin of Fredonia 5-2. He pinned Caroli of Columbus but was pinned by Mustain of Webb City.
Misenhelter defeated Rubin of Fredonia 8-4. He was pinned by Mustain of Webb City and lost to Gier of Joplin 10-6.
Tristan Sigfusson went 1-2 in the 130-pound class. He pinned Still of Joplin. He lost to Nguyen of Webb City 7-2 and was pinned by Davis of Frontenac.
Iola’s junior varsity will compete in the Cherryvale JV tournament on Saturday.
