Mustangs finish fourth at golf tourney

FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s Mustangs finished fourth at the Fort Scott High Invitational golf tournament Tuesday.
The Mustangs combined for a four-man total of 393. Pittsburg ran away from the 10-team field by 48 strokes with a total of 320.
Independence was second with a 368 and Pittsburg-Colgan took third with a 380. Parsons was fifth with a 394.
Iola didn’t place any golfer in the top 10 but had four in the top 24.
Doug Stewart led the Mustangs with a 94 (45-49) in 14th. Taking 15th was Nick Jacobs carding a 95 (46-49).
Sam Shallah and Rocky Smith each shot 102, tying for 24th. Jarrett Mosbrucker had a 116.
Iola goes to the rescheduled Chanute Invitational Friday, which was rained out Monday. That will be a tune-up for the Kansas Class 4A Regional Golf Tournament in Garnett next Monday.
