OSWEGO — Marmaton Valley High’s Granere siblings had a fruitful day on the track and in the field Tuesday at the Oswego Invitational
Leading the way was sophomore Janae Granere, who brought home gold medals in both the long jump and triple jump, while taking silver in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.
She helped lift the Wildcats to the team title, scoring 36 of Marmaton Valley’s 78 points on the day. Marmaton Valley edged Fairland (74) for the team title. Granere had the most points of any female participant.
On the boys side, Janae’s younger brother Jaedon Granere took silver in the 100 and bronze in the 200 as the Wildcats’ top scorer. His 24 points were tied for second most of any individual male athlete.
Other top finishes for MV were Zach Allee, fourth in the 800 meters; Evan Kent, fourth in the shot put; and Brayden Lawson, fourth in the high jump.
Pauline Thery took second in the 3200 and Piper Barney second in the high jump on the girls side. The Wildcat relay teams also fared well, with the girls’ 4×400-meter and 4×800-meter relay teams both taking third place, and the 4×100 squad placing fourth.
