MVJH brings home gold

UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s volleyball team won the team title at the Uniontown Junior High tournament Saturday.
Marmaton Valley defeated Pleasanton 20-11, 16-20, 15-7 in the championship match.
The Wildcats had roared through their pool undefeated.
The Wildcats downed Uniontown 20-0, 20-3 and beat Crest 20-15, 20-10. Then they got past Erie 16-20, 20-17, 15-2.
“What an awesome day of volleyball for these girls,” said Jamie Stodgell, MVJH head coach. “Bringing home the gold medal shows how teamwork pays off.”
Ashlynn Pinkerton served up 51 points for the Wildcats in the tournament. Tanna Lutz had 28 service points and Makenzie Tynon had 24 points.
Ruby Mann served for 10 points while Kyla Drake had six points and Lindsey McNeil had five points from the service line.
Also playing on the team were Misty Storrer and Emily Plaschka.
