ARMA — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s athletes continued their winning ways Thursday, sweeping all three volleyball matches and winning convincingly on the football field.
In volleyball action, the Wildcats remained perfect in A-team competition, downing Northeast-Arma 25-10, 25-13.
“I can’t say enough about how well the girls played,” coach Brenda Mills said. “The girls did a great job of setting each other up, and we won a lot of big rallies. We were on our game. It was a fun match to watch.”
Trinitee Gutierrez had 19 points, followed by Clara Boyd with six.
Head coach Gavin Cole kept track of kills for the first time this season. Shayla Brooks wound up with five kills, while MaKayla Brooks, Paige Becker, Boyd and Gutierrez had one kill apiece.
The win lifts the A-team to 10-0.
The Wildcat B team won 25-15, 25-18. Shelby Yoho led the way with 14 points, including 12 in a row at one point. Kari Shadden followed with seven.
“The girls continue to get better at setting and getting hits over the net,” Mills said.
The B-team, 8-4, wraps up its season Thursday at Crest.
The C-team ended its season Thursday in fine fashion, winning over Northeast, 25-14, 25-19.
Patricia Outlan had 12 points, including a 10-point run. Sarah Spillman followed with 11 points.
“Each girl improved greatly on their passing and their serving,” Mills said.
The C-team ended its season with a 5-0 record.
The Wildcat football team rolled to a 46-0 victory, to push its record to 5-1.
“There were many positives in the game,” coach Dan Uhlrich said.
The football team and the A- and B-team volleyball squads will be in Crest Thursday to wrap up the season. The A-team also will compete Monday at a tournament in St. Paul.
