Outlan shines in MVHS away outing

MOUND CITY — Marmaton Valley volleyball ran into some trouble on the road on Tuesday as they went 1-2 versus Yates Center, Chetopa and Uniontown at Jayhawk Linn.
Even throughout some early struggles, junior Patricia Outlan was the standout at the net, recording 23 kills and eight blocks in three matches.
The Wildcats began the meet with a 2-0 loss to  Yates Center (24-26, 15-25).
Outlan led the way with eight kills while Trinitee Gutierrez and Megan Ens-minger scored seven and six points respectively.
Outlan continued to shine while the Wildcats struggled as she recorded six kills and two blocks in their 2-0 loss to Chetopa (17-25, 16-25). Paige Becker also chipped in five points.
While Outlan was good in Marmaton Valley’s losses she was great in their only win, recording nine kills and six blocks in their 2-0 win over Uniontown (25-15, 25-13).
Ensminger and Becker added nine points each and Shayla Brook put down five kills.
The Wildcats will head to Altoona-Midway on Tuesday.
