INDEPENDENCE — Iola Middle School’s golf team won by 18 strokes Monday at the Independence Middle School golf tournament.
The Ponies posted a 160 team score with Independence at 178. The nine-hole tournament was played on the Sycamore Golf Course.
Iola placed all six of its golfers in the top 10.
Kaden Macha and Shane Walden plus Spencer Walters of Anderson County shot 38s, which was two over par for the course. On a scorecard playoff, Macha took first, Walden was second and Walters third.
Weston Hines and Iola teammate Matt Jacobs both shot 42s. They ended up in a three-way tie for sixth. The Ponies’ Isaiah Grover and Adam Peterson each finished with a 44, tying for 10th.
There were eight teams competing in the tournament.
Iola goes to Coffeyville Wednesday.
