Mother Nature is apparently not much of a sports fan, washing away baseball and softball games for all area teams Thursday.

The Iola High baseball team, who never did play a game at its home field at Riverside Park this season, saw their doubleheader at Jefferson West washed out Thursday.

Iola’s softball squad had its games at Independence Friday canceled.

The teams are scheduled to visit Santa Fe Trail Tuesday to wrap up the regular season.

Humboldt, Marmaton Valley, Crest and Yates Center also had games Thursday called off.

Iola Middle School’s plans to host the Pioneer League Track Meet were pushed back from Thursday to Monday, as was Humboldt High School’s home track meet.

Forecasts are calling for warmer and dryer weather next week.
