Red Devil softball team sweeps past Fort Scott

FORT SCOTT — Allen County Community College’s Red Devils improved to 9-1 in Jayhawk  Eastern Division play Tuesday. They swept under the Fort Scott Community College Greyhounds 5-0 and 13-1.
Lenzie Boring was the winning pitcher in the first game, allowing three hits and one walk. She struck out eight.
Autumn Lamle had a single and a triple for ACCC and Brandie Hutcheson had a single and a double. Jenna Sigg hit two singles. Shawna Blakesley double. Megan Dillow and Denise Swanson each had a single.
The Red Devils hammered out 17 hits in the second game. They won it in five innings via run-rule.
Callie Umholtz had two singles and a double. Kyle Taylor hit a two-run home run and a single. Kristina Popejoy had a two-run home run. Lamle hit three singles.
Blakesley had a double and a triple. Amy Carr, Sigg and Kelci Owens each had a single and a double.
Brianne Campbell got the win, throwing four innings, allowing one run on five hits and striking out four. Amy McAfee gave up one hit in an inning of work.
Today’s games with Ottawa have been canceled.
ACCC (19-11) plays in a tournament at Johnson County Community College this weekend.
