Allen Community College’s men dealt with a painful loss over the weekend.
The Red Devil women, meanwhile, dealt with a painful injury.
The squads went a combined 1-3 as they each competed in tournaments.
The Red Devil men dropped both of their contests in Dodge City Community College’s Conq Classic.
Allen dropped a heartbreaker in the opener, falling 64-63 Friday to host Dodge City, then dropping an 80-69 decision on Saturday to Pratt.
Allen’s women were in Chanute, where they knocked off Barton, 79-69, on Friday. The Red Devils fell, 83-63, to Pratt on Saturday. More importantly, Allen may have lost one of its starters in Erika Essman.
The losses drop the ACC men to 4-3. The Allen women also stand at 4-3 after their split.
Both squads will be at Kansas City, Kan., for a doubleheader Tuesday. The women tip off at 5:30 p.m., the men at 7:30.

FRIDAY’S CONTEST was tightly fought throughout for the ACC men. Allen led Dodge 33-32 at the break.
Three Red Devils scored in double figures, led by Raheem Tyner’s 14 points and nine rebounds. Cody Sluder followed with 13 and nine boards. Courtney Stockard scored 10 points, Alex Miller nine. Josh Sweet had five assists; Miller swiped three steals.
Delvon Bencher led Dodge City with 18 points, followed by Ameer Jackson with 10.
Allen was a cool 55 percent from the line, 10 of 18, while Dodge City drained 10 of 12 charities. Allen held a 39-to-29 rebounding advantage.
There was no such drama against Pratt, which led the Red Devils 43-35 at halftime.
This time, Allen’s free throw shooting was solid (26 of 33) but its field goal percentage was a frigid 33 percent, 18 of 55, including just 11 of 35 from 2-point range.
Pratt shot 46 percent from the floor (24 of 52 overall) and from 3-point range, 7 of 15. The teams combined for 68 free throw attempts as the officials whistled 53 personal fouls. The Greenbacks held a commanding 45 to 24 rebounding advantage.
Tyner’s 19 points led the Red Devils. Miller scored 11 and Sweet had eight. Miller also had three steals.
Three Pratt players scored in double figures: Taylor Schieber with 16, Phoenix Bills with 15 and Thomas Tshikaya with 11.

THE WEEKEND started off on the right foot for the ACC women. Four Red Devils reached double figures in points, while a fifth, Essman, had nine as Allen was 26 of 49 (53 percent) from the field and 21 of 27 from the line.
Barton, conversely, was a cool 40 percent from the field and hit only 6 of 11 free throws.
Briana Barrett led the way with 19 points and five rebounds. Jameeshia Armstrong scored 18 points, including three of four 3-pointers, with six rebounds. O’ceonna Weston had 16 points and eight boards and Nicole Salazar had 15 points with nine assists.
Cheyenne Beddington’s game-high 25 points and 17 rebounds paced Barton. Ashton Bruner followed with 15 points and 10 boards.
The good fortune ended then.
Pratt led by nine at halftime, 37-28, and never looked back in the second half, scoring 46 points after intermission. Even worse, Essman — Allen’s second-leading 3-point shooter — exited early with a knee injury without scoring. She averages nearly 9 points a game.
The Greenbacks outshot Allen, 52 percent compared to 37 percent, and held a commanding 47 to 27 rebounding advantage.
There were still bright spots for the ACC women.
Allen’s one-two punch of Armstrong and Salazar combined for 47 points.
Amrstrong had 24 points and eight rebounds, while Salazar scored 23 points. Weston had seven points, nine rebounds and four assists.
Individual statistics for the Pratt women were unavailable.
