PARSONS — Allen Community College’s softball team had a rough go of it Tuesday.
Playing their first games in more than two weeks because of weather, the Red Devils traveled to Parsons for a doubleheader against Labette Community College.
Labette rolled to 15-0 and 10-0 wins. The losses drop Allen to 0-5 on the season. The games originally were scheduled to be in Iola, but were moved to Parsons because of wet and snowy field conditions locally. The Red Devils hadn’t played a game since Feb. 16.
Allen coach Jamie Amerine said Thursday’s doubleheader against Maplewoods Community College also has been canceled.
The Red Devils travel to Bixby, Okla., Saturday and Sunday for six games as part of the Midwest Classic. Allen then travels to Highland for a doubleheader Tuesday before returning home March 15.
In the 10-0 defeat, Taylor Easum had a leadoff single for Allen, the only Red Devil hit. Labette, meanwhile, scored two runs in the first, one in the second and five in the third to take control.
Melissa Davidson pitched for Allen, giving up 10 hits and eight walks.
The Red Devils were limited to two hits in the 15-0 setback, a first-inning single by Paige Rothwell and Kaitlin Norris’ single to lead off the fourth.
After scoring single runs in the first and second frames, Labette racked up three in the third, four more in the fourth and sixth in the top of the fifth.
Kaitlyn Rash pitched, giving up 11 hits and six walks.
