The Allen Community College Red Devils women’s soccer team rebounded from a rough start to the season with a 2-1 victory over Richland.
After opening the year with a 9-0 loss to the Brookhaven Bears, Allen rounded with a 2-1 victory over the Richland Wooden Ducks.
The Red Devils took their first lead of the season on an unassisted goal from striker Jillian Muelhberger at the tail end of the first half. Allen sealed the win with another goal late in regulation by center-midfielder Mylee Schroder off an assist from striker Charlotte Gatehouse.
On the opposite end of the pitch, Allen’s goalkeepers held their own after giving up an early goal at the 7-minute mark. Keeper Sashay Morgan regained her composure for the remainder of her time behind the net with a save.
In the second period, keeper Catherine Mitchell relieved Morgan and kept the Wooden Ducks out of the net for the remainder of the contest while racking up a team-leading three saves.
With the win, the Red Devils even their record to 1-1 and look to stay in the win column Wednesday when they host Crowder College. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m.
