Both the men’s and women’s soccer teams for Allen Community College played at home over the weekend, but neither squad could give its fans a win.
The women kicked off Saturday’s doubleheader of ACC soccer with their matchup against Northern Oklahoma College.
Goalkeeper Emilee Mitchell recorded 15 saves for the Red Devils in order to keep them in the game, but NOC needed just one ball to find the back of the net and the Mavericks defeated the Red Devils 1-0.
Allen won its first two games before dropping the last two, scoring just one goal in the last 180 minutes.
The ACC men’s squad didn’t fair much better when it also faced off against NOC on Saturday afternoon.
Once the women wrapped up their contest, the men took the field but failed to ever get their offense clicking as they lost 3-0.
Just like in the women’s match earlier in the day, Allen’s goalkeeper James Everett came up strong for the Red Devils with eight saves. But the effort proved to be too little and too late.
The men are now 1-4 to start the 2015 season.
