Outs were at a premium as runs flowed in nice and easy for Allen Community College and Independence Community College in their doubleheader on Thursday in Iola.

After dropping game one 10-9 in a game where they committed four errors, the Red Devils responded with an offensive eruption in the second game.

Torey Jordan Jr., led the attack with a pair of home runs, but the home squad since entered the bottom of the ninth inning trailing 16-13.

Ku’ron Summons led the inning off with a walk to bring up the top of the Red Devil lineup.

Summons was picked off at second but that didn’t slow Allen down.

Roberto Enriquez and Cameron Pope each walked and there were two on for the Red Devils No. 3 and hottest hitter Jordan.

Jordan roped a double to right field and the Red Devils posted their first run of the inning and Jordan represented the tying run at second base with one out.

Gabe Gomez was hit by a pitch.

Gunar Drinnen swung at three straight pitches and was retired for the second out, but then Independence lost control again.

Derrick Weir walked to cut the lead to one.

Two straight hit-by-pitches ended the game and Allen escaped with a 17-16 walk-off win.

Allen completes the series with Independence when they hit the road and play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. today.
