The Allen Red Devils soccer team suffered its first loss of the season after falling 3-0 to the Johnson County Community College Cavaliers Wednesday evening.
After taking the lead in the first period, the Cavaliers added a pair of goals in the second pushing Allen out of contention and dropping the Red Devils record to 3-1-2.
The Cavaliers got out to an early lead after sophomore midfielder Ben Points found the back of the net with 19:18 left on the scoreboard on an unassisted goal.
With seven saves by goalkeeper Gabriel Nunez on 10 shots on goal, Johnson County’s success seemed more of a numbers game than a soccer match.
An assist from Johnson County freshman forward Sergio Hernandez Marquez at the 47-minute mark to freshman midfielder Khoi Woods set up another score to push JCCC’s lead to 2-0.
With just a few minutes left in regulation, freshman midfielder Thomas House scored the Cavaliers’ final goal of the evening on a pass from freshman forward Conor Meyers to seal the victory.
With the win JCCC remains undefeated in the Jayhawk Conference at 1-0 while Allen drops to 0-1-1.
The Red Devils return to the pitch Saturday, when they host Southeast at Allen Community College. Kickoff is at 4 p.m.
