Warmer temperatures brought out hotter hitting and better pitching for Allen County Community College’s baseball team Thursday.
The Red Devils won two run-ruled, five-inning games against visiting Evangel College’s junior varsity. Allen County had 11 hits in a 12-2 win and hammered out 12 hits in an 11-2 victory.
Allen County pitchers only gave up four hits in the 10 innings of play — two in each game. Matt Mitchell had three of those hits for Evangel including a single and a double in the second game.
Curtiss Bunch got the pitching win in the first game, going three innings. He gave up two runs on two hits and a walk with three strikeouts. Zak Mickens and Patrick Garner each had a scoreless and hitless inning of work. Both had two strikeouts.
Right-fielder Nick Fountain was 3-for-4 with a three-run home run and two singles. He drove in six of the 12 runs in the first game. Bryce Williams, Bunch and Brad Alberts had two singles each. Brayden Brumley and Kyle Johnston had a single apiece.

Michael Schell was 3-for-4 with three base hits. Tevin Kendall had two singles and three RBIs. Brumley had two singles. Williams, Fountain and Garret Hess each hit a double. Jaren Moorman and Kaleb Hoffman hit a single apiece.
The Red Devils are 6-10 overall. They host Kansas City, Kan., in a four-game weekend series. The doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday are at 1 p.m.
