BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Broken Arrow High School seniors Shelby and Shalyn Riebel, formerly of Iola, signed letters of intent to play softball next year for Eastern Oklahoma State College in Wilburton, Okla.
The Riebel twins are the daughters of Shari and Jeremy Anderson of Broken Arrow and Harold Riebel of Iola. They participated in Iola recreational softball summer leagues through the sixth grade when they moved to Broken Arrow, Okla., in 2004.
Shalyn, a catcher, and Shelby, an outfielder, have played on the BAHS varsity softball team which has been to state all four years they were in high school, winning state titles two of those years.
Shalyn earned a state tournament ring in 2009, playing in the state tournament in 2009 and 2010. Shelby played in the state tournament in 2010.
The Riebels’ grandparents are Marlene White and Bob Scheer of Mildred and Earl and Marjorie Riebel of LaHarpe and Terri Anderson of Iola.
