A group of 21 local USSSA baseball players of all ages made their way last week to Kansas City to play in the MoKan All-State Showcase. Players named an MVP during the season got a chance to compete
The number of area MVPs has increased over the years from four two years ago to 12 last year. Their ages range from 8 and under to 14.
Players were chosen as MVP’s by opposing coaches after games which automatically allows them to register and compete in the showcase.
Participants received a certificate, t-shirt and ring.
They played in two games apiece versus other showcase teams.
“It’s an opportunity to let all the players move around, bat somewhere different in a lineup, play just about every position on the field and most importantly make new friends with players whom they have or will soon be competing against,” 9U and 12U head coach Jeff White said.
The games at the showcase were less of a competitive nature, White said,  and more about having fun and getting everybody a chance to play almost every position.
