Southern Coffey County closed out the semester at home on Tuesday splitting with Burlingame. The SCC girls won 45-37 while the boys lost 44-33.
The Lady Titans and Bearcats were tied up at 12 after the first quarter and extended that lead by five heading into halftime up 28-23. Southern Coffey County pushed its lead up by two more after the third and one more in the fourth to get the eight-point win.
The Lady Titans had two players record double-doubles led by senior guard Danielle Kasprzak who had 14 points and 11 rebounds and junior forward Crystal Alumbaugh who had 12 points and 10 rebounds.
They are 4-3 so far this season.
Meanwhile, the Titan boys started their game down five early after the first quarter. An 8-4 second quarter pushed the Bearcats’ lead to nine heading into halftime but a big 18-10 third quarter really ballooned Burlingame’s lead and from there the Bearcats were in control. Southern Coffey County outscored Burlingame 12-9 in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to 11 as the game ended.
Senior guard Chonner Ludolph had a team-high 18 points and was the only Titan in double-figures. Junior post Kolgan Ohl had two points to go along with the second straight game that fellow big-man Dawson Leimkuhler did not play.
With the loss, Southern Coffey County is 5-2.
The Titans will take on Olpe after winter break on Jan. 5.
