KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Trailing by 13 points by halftime, Allen County Community College Red Devil men weren’t able to come back in the second half against host Penn Valley Community College Tuesday.
In their 2010-2011 season opener, the Red Devils and the Scouts were even in the second half, both scoring 49 points. But the Scouts’ 45-32 run in the first half propelled them to a 94-81 victory.
Allen County had four players score in double figures led by freshman Terrell Shears with 20 points. Shears hit four three-point field goals.
Thomas Daniel, a 6-8 freshman, dumped in 16 points.
Sophomores Keevis Tukes and Jason Smith had 13 and 12 points, respectively. Smith’s came in the second half while Tukes had five points in the first half.
James Lee paced the Scouts with 19 points, 12 coming in the second half. Rashaad Lucas tossed in 18 points.
Anthony May had eight of his 12 points in the second half. Danzell Cook had 11 points.
Penn Valley had 11 players score in the game. Allen County had eight players score.
No other statistics were available from the game.
Next up for the Red Devils is their home opener next Tuesday against Hutchinson Community College. It is a 7 p.m. tipoff at ACCC gym.
Allen County will play at home in the Red Devil Classic Nov. 12-13.
