COLONY — The SCC Lady Titans took it to the Crest Lancers Thursday, in a one-sided matchup that was a benchmark according to coach Jeff True.
Southern Coffey County won the contest in a commanding way, 50-23, after coming out hot from the start — the win seemed to be sealed from the first quarter.
“It was nice to see them play without turning the ball over so much,” head coach Jeff True said of his team’s performance. All of his players came off the bench to participate at some point.
While the Lancers struck first on a Laurel Godderz field goal, the Titans went on a 9-0 run in the opening quarter to ultimately go up 13-3.
The full-court press from the Titans resulted in numerous turnovers for their opponent, and they capitalized in nearly every way. High scorer Breanna Isch came alive in the second with a pair of field goals and one trey.
The second half proved to be too much of a mountain for the Lady Lancers to climb. They faced a 47-19 deficit in the final quarter. A quick score from the Titans put them over the 30-point mark, resulting in a running clock.
Isch led the Titans with 16 points, followed by Brittne Brite with eight and Kalyn Deal with seven. The Lancers were led by Godderz with 10 and Miranda Golden with six.
The Lancers lost Friday as well, on a road contest against the Oswego Indians, 67-35. Karlee Hammond contributed 14 points in the contest, followed by Madison Covey with eight and Laurel Godderz with seven.
