Soccer teams hit road

Allen Community College’s women went 1-1 over the weekend on the soccer field.
The Red Devils walloped host Garden City Friday afternoon, 6-1, before falling a day later at first-place Barton County.
The men also traveled to Barton Saturday, falling to to the Cougars, 4-2.
The split gives ACC’s women a 5-3 record overall (3-1 in Jayhawk Conference action).
The men’s loss gives them a 3-4 overall record (1-2 in conference).
In the 6-1 win over Garden City, Lexi Godlove matched her teammate, Kyleigh Rowe’s performance from two days earlier by scoring four goals. Rowe assisted on all four.
The dynamic duo switched roles for another goal. This time Godlove assisted on Rowe’s goal.
Samantha Moore also scored in the second half on a cross from Lacy Kimura.
Goalkeeper Keelie Arbuckle recorded five saves.
The offense dried up against Barton in a 3-0 loss.
Arbuckle recorded 12 saves against the relentless Cougar attack.

ON THE MEN’S side, Chibueze Nwagwu scored Allen’s first goal of the day, with a shot from about 30 yards. Brett Rex scored the second off of a penalty kick.
The Red Devil squads are at home Wednesday against Coffeyville. The women begin at 2 p.m., the men at 4 o’clock.
