The substate brackets have all been released and here is how it stacks up for our area teams in their playoff openers.
The Mustangs are the two seed in the Parsons substate bracket and will play the third seeded host-school on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Fillies are also seeded second and will play third-seeded Anderson County at 6 p.m. on Friday.
An advantage to waiting until Thursday to play is that Iola fans have the option to go to Humboldt for a pair of games that the top-seeded Cubs teams will host. The girls will play today at 7 p.m. against  eighth-seeded Southeast-Cherokee. The boys will play at 7 p.m., on Tuesday against eighth-seeded Riverton.
Marmaton Valley will travel to West Elk today for a girls-boys doubleheader starting at 6 p.m.  The Wildcat boys are seeded seventh and the girls are eighth.
Yates Center’s top-seeded boys will host Madison today at 7 p.m. The seventh-seeded Wildcat girls will travel to Madison on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Southern Coffey County’s fifth-seeded girls will play fourth-seeded Chetopa today at 6 p.m. in Olpe. The fifth-seeded Titan boys face fourth-seeded St. Paul on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Olpe.
Both Crest squads have early-week byes, but the Lancer girls open up their Waverly substate bracket as the third seed taking on second-seeded Hartford on Thursday. The second-seeded Crest boys will  face third-seeded Waverly on Friday. Times have yet to be determined for those games.
