Offensive woes continued to plague the Allen Community College women Saturday.
The visiting Cowley Tigers ended the first half with an 18-1 lead and never looked back in an 85-35 victory.
The loss, Allen’s fifth in a row, drops the Red Devils to 7-11 on the season and 0-2 in Jayhawk Conference Eastern Division play.
“We can’t score,” Red Devil head coach Katie Mahoney said. “It’s the same issue that’s killing us every game. We’re struggling.”
Allen was within shouting distance following a pair of early Cowley runs before the Tigers hit the turbo button in the latter portion of the first half.
The Tigers led 10-2 before a Kailey Cleaver basket, a traditional 3-point play by Rebecca Fisher and an O’ceonna Weston trey knotted the score for Allen at the 13:13 mark of the first half.
Cowley surged back ahead, 24-12, before the Red Devils countered with an 8-2 run, capped by a pair of baskets by Asia Shelton and a steal and layup by Weston.
That was as close as the Red Devils could get.
Cowley’s Emilie Gronas scored six and Erica Elerich five as the Tigers surged ahead 44-21 by halftime.
The Tigers shot a white-hot 56 percent from the field in the first half and 52 percent for the game.
Allen, conversely, converted only five baskets in the second half — they were outscored 41-14 after intermission — and shot 25 percent for the game.
Weston led the Red Devils with 11 points and three assists, followed by Fisher with eight points and Cleaver with seven points and seven rebounds. Reagan McLellan had three steals.
Gronas scored 19 of her 21 in the first half. She sat the last 17 minutes with the game well in hand. Tamara Washington scored 10.
Allen has a pair of road games this week, traveling to Butler County Wednesday and Neosho County Saturday.
