YATES CENTER ? The Southern Coffey County boys and girls basketball teams wrapped up tournament week at the Winter Wildcat Classic in Yates Center with wins over Lyon County League opponent Hartford.
The wins move both Titan teams to 3-1 on the season.
The SCC boys won big in the third-place game over the Jaguars 69-29.
SCC got had a double-digit lead after the 24-10 first quarter and pushed that to 20 by halftime, leading 37-15.
A 26-6 third quarter ballooned the Titans? lead to 40, 63-21, before they let off the gas in the fourth quarter, allowing Hartford to outscore them 7-6.
Senior Dawson Leimkuhler led the way with 24 points followed by 21 for senior Kolgan Ohl. Jett Harvey had 13, Noah Borntreger had five and Wade Collins, Cooper Harred and Jonathan Borntreger each had two.
The Lady Titans game was a much tighter affair.
Despite leading by five heading into the fourth quarter, Southern Coffey County had to hold on tight to escape Hartford 36-34 and earn fifth place in the tournament.
SCC?s lead was six after the first quarter and they stretched that to 11 at 24-13 by the half. The Lady Jaguars started to fight back after the half and got things within five at 28-23.
Haven Harvey led the way with 12 followed by 10 for Reed Szambecki and eight for Crystal Alumbaugh. Jordyn Stone, Emersyn Hall and Kyra Ohl each had two.
The Titans will open up league play on Tuesday when they travel to take on Waverly.
