LEBO — What, the Lakers weren’t available?

Marmaton Valley High’s boys tipped off a brutal closing stretch of the 2025-26 regular season with a pair of tough games.

Thursday’s matchup at Lebo — the state’s fourth-ranked Class 1A-II team — turned against the Wildcats in the second quarter.

Lebo broke open a close game with a 19-6 run to take a 32-13 halftime lead. The Wolves continued their sterling play with a 20-11 third-quarter run of what became a 56-31 victory.

The loss drops Marmaton Valley to 8-12 with another tough task ahead on Saturday.

The Wildcats will travel to Waubunsee High School in Alma to take on Hanover, ranked No. 2 in 1A-II, in a contest added this week.

Marmaton Valley was limited to a single field goal in the first quarter, but remained close thanks to Tyler Lord’s marksmanship from the free throw line.

Lebo led 13-6, but its dominating second and third periods allowed most of its starters to go the bench at the start of the fourth quarter with a 52-27 lead.

Garrett Morrison  gave Marmaton Valley a lift, scoring all 11 of his points after the break. Lord wound up with nine.

Garrison Knight led Lebo with 15, followed by Brock Hadey with 14.

Marmaton Valley secured a 45-32 win in junior varsity play. Ethan Lawson led the Wildcat JV with 13, followed by Lane Lord with 11. Kris McVey had nine, Thomas Allee five, Kaden McVey four and Brady Burton three.

IN GIRLS play, Marmaton Valley struggled at the offensive end in a 41-12 setback.

Lebo led 9-0 after one quarter, 21-3 at the break and 29-5 after three.

Emma Louk scored six to lead the Wildcats. Reagan Marshall and Andie Carr both scored three.

Ally Peck scored 12 to pace the Wolves.

Marmaton Valley wraps up the regular season next week with games at Altoona-Midway Tuesday and Uniontown Friday.
