MORAN — A tough week for the Marmaton Valley Wildcats had at least one bit of silver lining — a chance to learn.
The Wildcats lost 60-14 to the Marais des Cygnes Trojans Friday night, but Coach Dan Uhlrich decidedly took the chance to look at the bright side.
“We just hope to get better each week,” Uhlrich said. “As long as we keep learning.”
The Trojans put up 38 points in the first quarter, and another 22 to end the game at the half, but not before the Wildcats put two in the endzone. Chance Stevenson hit Keagan Boyd on a 12-yard pass, and Micheal Genn had a 5-yard touchdown run as well.
“We kept fighting til the end,” Uhlrich said.
The Wildcats rushed 24 times for 59 yards, and completed 2 of 3 passes for 8 yards. Genn led in tackling with 6, followed by Stevenson with 5.
Uhlrich said the team “still has a lot to learn and a lot to work on,” especially before next week’s matchup against Uniontown.
