UNIONTOWN — Jayhawk-Linn High’s Bayleigh White proved to be too much for Uniontown High’s girls to handle.
White shot 12 of 16 from the floor en route to a 29-point outburst, much of which came in the second half as the Jayhawks pulled away for a 62-48 win. The loss drops the Lady Eagles to 5-7 on the season.
“We shot well and we rebounded well,” Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said. “We just turned it over way too many times and we really struggled in the second half to stop White.”
Jayhawk-Linn jumped out to a 16-7 lead after one quarter. Uniontown closed the margin to 25-19 at the break. The Jayhawks pushed the margin into double digits in the third period, leading 40-28 by the end of the quarter.
Breanna Esslinger, despite playing the entire second half on a sprained ankle, led Uniontown with 14 points and seven rebounds.
“Breanna really came to play tonight,” Holt said.
Brooke Harper added 10 points and Hope Jurgensen added nine. Jurgensen and Jennifer Ulrey both pulled in three steals. Tayler Shook handed out six assists.
Emma Hargrove added 11 points for the Jayhawks.
Uniontown travels to Crest on Friday.
