MORAN — Cold starts to both halves spelled trouble for Marmaton Valley High’s boys Tuesday.
Visiting Jayhawk-Linn took an eight-point lead in the first quarter. And while the Wildcats stayed in shouting distance through the rest of the half, Jayhawk’s explosive third quarter paved the way for a 52-39 win.
Garrett Morison led the team with 13 points. Kaden McVey was next with six. Todd Stevenson and Ethan Lawson added five each. Cooper Scharff notched four; Thomas Allee and Dagan Barney chipped in with two each.
The Wildcats also dropped a 38-33 setback in junior varsity play.
Allee led the JV squad with nine. Lane Lord and Lawson both scored seven. Kooper Welch and Colin Ard both scored three. Truett Blevins and Kris McVey each scored two.
MARMATON Valley’s girls had a tough night, falling 42-12.
Emma Louk led the Wildcat girls with five. Reagan Marshall scored three; Andie Carr and Evva Sander had two apiece
Marmaton Valley hosts Northeast Friday for Winter Homecoming.
