MORAN — A 3-point barrage from visiting Northeast-Arma spoiled Marmaton Valley High’s Winter Homecoming night Friday.
The Vikings drained 11 3-pointers en route to a 66-51 win.
The loss drops Marmaton Valley to 4-7 as the Wildcats head to Yates Center for a midseason tournament, starting Tuesday against host Yates Center.
The Viking bombardment hit high gear in the second quarter. Conner Hill and Tegan Mitch both connected twice from 3-point range as Northeast took a 32-17 lead into the halftime locker room.
Marmaton Valley found its stride in the third quarter. Garrett Morrison scored eight in the period as the Wildcats pared the gap to 40-30.
But Northeast ensured the Wildcats drew no closer down the stretch.
Morrison scored 13 to lead Marmaton Valley’s evening, followed by Todd Stevenson with nine, Kaden McVey with eight, and Dagan Barney with seven.
Mitchell scored 20 to lead the Vikings. Hill scored 15, all on 3-pointers.
Northeast also prevailed, 41-32, in junior varsity play.
Thomas Allee and Lane Lord scored 12 and 10 points, respectively, for the Wildcat JV. Ethan Lawson scored four, while Kooper Welch, Brady Burton and Truett Blevins had two each.
NORTHEAST rolled to a 34-4 win in the girls contest.
Emma Louk and Andie Carr each had two points for the Wildcats (2-9).
Delaney Lusker scored 10 to lead the Lady Vikings.
LOOKING to this week, Marmaton Valley’s girls will play Yates Center at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Norris Gymnasium, followed immediately by the boys game.
Marmaton Valley will then take on Oswego starting at 4 p.m. Thursday in the upstairs gymnasium, and St. Paul at 4 p.m. Friday in the upstairs gymnasium.
