Iola’s Shane Walden became the youngest golfer to hit a hole-in-one at Allen County Country Club.
Walden, 13, sank his first-ever ace Thursday. He used a 6-iron to hit the ball the distance on the 160-yard, par 3 No. 2 hole.
“I just knew it went past the hole,” Walden said. “But Seth (his older brother) said it was in the hole. He walked up to the flag and just pointed down.
“It’s pretty cool.”
Seth Walden and Kenny Thompson witnessed the feat.
Walden will be an eighth-grader at Iola Middle School in the fall. He played on the IMS golf team this past spring.
