YATES CENTER — While the Yates Center High Wildcats made their best attempts to hold close against the Waverly High Bulldogs, a poor fourth-quarter put them out of the contest Friday night. Waverly won 76-51.
The scoring in the first half was about as close as could be. The first quarter had the Wildcats down 16-12, but a strong second quarter got them back in the game before halftime, 30-27.
The Bulldogs came out big in the third, however, with 26 points. The Wildcats had 18. The fourth quarter seemed to be the nail in the coffin, Yates Center was outscored 20-6 by the Bulldogs.
Cameron Brown had a strong performance for the Wildcats with 18 points, followed by Caleb DeNoon with 11. Justin Rossillon had six.
As a team, the Wildcats went 9 for 22 from the line (40.9 percent), and committed 22 fouls.
