Wildcats pick up first win during SCC debut

The Marmaton Valley Junior High School Wildcats got an early start to the boys basketball season, picking up their first win of the season against Three Rivers League rival Southern Coffey County Thursday.

LE ROY — Marmaton Valley Junior High’s boys got off to a quick start Thursday, and picked up their first win of the season in the process.

The Wildcats led 13-3 after one quarter against host Southern Coffey County, and never looked back in a 32-23 win.

Anthony Sander led the way with nine points, followed by Jaren Curl with seven and Daniel Allee with six. Raylan Preston chipped in with four and Kaiden Woods scored three.

Marmaton Valley’s B team boys also prevailed, 16-6, led by Zayne Endicott, Tyler Borth and Lucas Sander with four points apiece. Doug Dix and Kevin Martin each scored two.

SOUTHERN COFFEY County’s girls cruised to a 38-2 win over Marmaton Valley in A team play. Kloie Snavely scored the Wildcats’ two points.

The Lady Titans also prevailed, 17-8, in a two-quarter B team game. Snavely scored four, Zoey Endicott scored three and Gaby Tholen had a free throw.

Marmaton Valley hosts Northeast Monday.
